STREE- A Voice, A Celebration – An exploration of the Feminine Spirit In Bharatanatyam by Smt. Ragini Chandershekar and the senior dancers of the Kalangan Dance Company, New Delhi
“Stree”- The feminine energy is unfolded through the dynamics of music, movement and the spatial kinetics of Bharatanatyam. The piece begins with the female spirit breaking free from the codes of a male-dominated society. She is born free- not one to be chained by the shackles of gender and creed. Treat her not with contempt, but with care; do not be beguiled by her feminity- it holds a storm within!
Free movement and exploration of expressions on contemporary poetry give way to the unabandoned joy and celebration of the effervescent feminine spirit. Traditional Bharatanatyam movements have been juxtaposed with contemporary rhythmic beats with a uniquely refreshing classical twist.
“Stree” celebrates the woman in all her glory- strong, powerful, beautiful, feminine, omnipotent…truly unstoppable!
